Sirius XM radio app reaches Android

updated 02:40 pm EDT, Fri April 23, 2010

Droid, Nexus One get Sirius XM streaming

Sirius XM expanded its radio streaming at last on Friday by launching the Sirius XM Android app. Like the iPhone version, it gives Internet streaming versions of most of the stations from both the Sirius and XM channel lineups. The Android build keeps favorites and lets users browse other channels without leaving the existing station.

Some channels, including Howard Stern's and some live sports, are still limited to satellite radio.

Unusually, Sirius XM is targeting the app only at Android 2.x phones and only lists it as supporting the Droid Incredible and any future Android phones will support the app. The download itself is free, but it requires a Sirius XM Premium Online subscription to get unrestricted access.
