Apple releases RAW compatibility update for Aperture, iPhoto

updated 11:35 pm EDT, Thu April 22, 2010

Update covers Canon, Olympus, Sony cameras

Apple on Thursday released a RAW compatibility update for Aperture 3 and iPhoto '09. Version 3.2 extends support to a list of new cameras including the Canon EOS Rebel T2i, 550D and Kiss X4; Leica S2; Olympus E-450, E600, and E-620; Sony Alpha DSLR-A230, A330, A380, and A450. The update also addresses RAW processing issues with the Canon EOS 30D, Pentax K-x and K-7.

The RAW compatibility update v3.2 is now available from Apple's support site or via Software Update. [Download - 5.28MB]

Seriously, the format has existed for about a year now, and still no support, even though lens-corrected RAW for cameras like m4/3 is now supported, which presumably was the challenge. And of course if Apple would get support for modern DNG going, they would automatically have RAW support for pretty much EVERYTHING, since the DNG converter is free and regularly updated...
