Apple adds Maps, App Store to iPad Guided Tours

updated 11:35 am EDT, Thu April 22, 2010

Earlier absence unexplained

Apple has updated the collection of iPad Guided Tours, a series of videos which illustrate different first-party apps on the tablet. New to the group are tours of Maps and the App Store, both of which have been upgraded from equivalent apps on the iPhone and iPod touch. The Maps video depicts concepts such as zoom, directions and Street View.

The App Store tour is comparatively simple, showing how to search for titles, filter through them and then install them; also on display are the more elaborate preview screens the iPad makes possible. It's not clear why Apple would only now be posting the new videos, as the previous ones were online before the iPad's April 3rd launch. The company may have had delays in getting the videos produced, or simply wanted to draw more web visitors back at a later date.
