particleIllusion plugin ships for After Effects

updated 03:35 pm EDT, Thu April 22, 2010

Brings up to 2,800 emitters to AE

Wondertouch has launched a new effects plugin, particleIllusion for After Effects. The software lets users employ particleIllusion content within After Effects, instead of switching to a standalone application. Up to 2,800 emitters can be used, which are said to provide quick setups for effects like smoke, fire, explosions and more abstract visuals. The full emitter collection can only be obtained by buying into the 12 Pro Emitters libraries.

The plugin supports OpenGL-accelerated rendering and high-definition content. It can also operate in conduction with its standalone cousin, particleIllusion 3.0. After Effects 7, CS3 or CS4 is required, along with Mac OS X 10.4 or higher -- v10.5 is necessary on PowerPC chips. It normally costs $300, but is available in bundles with the standalone app and/or the Pro Emitters libraries.
