Compaq 6005 packs Phenom II quad in paper size

HP has added a parcel of new desktops today that, in its business line, include its smallest-ever desktop using AMD. The Compaq-labeled 6005 Pro has the footprint of a piece of paper but can use desktop-level processors. It's small enough to fit on the back of a display and is also HP's first truly green PC, dropping BFRs (bromide flame retardants) and PVC plastics.

A system begins at $599 for a single-core Sempron, a 160GB hard drive and a DVD burner, but it comes with relatively quick Radeon HD 4200 integrated video that can handle HD video and some modern 3D. Upgraded models, including some small form factor and mini-tower models, can scale up to Athlon II as well as Phenom II X2, X3 and X4 processors depending on the size and spec. The larger PCs can also carry up to 500GB of storage and use full PCI Express cards, while all systems have the pick of either Linux or Windows.

HP plans availaibility within a few days, putting them on sale April 26th.
