Toshiba tablets may use Win Phone 7, newer Tegra chip

Toshiba may have first WP7 based tablet

Toshiba's upcoming tablets could include the first-ever tablet based on Windows Phone 7, a claim today said. Without citing a separate source, DigiTimes asserted that the dual-screen Windows tablet would actually use Windows CE 7, or likely a non-phone version of Windows Phone 7. It's unknown if this would actually be a Courier journal or Toshiba's own design.

Compal has reportedly been tapped to make both this and the known 10-inch Android tablet, and both would use NVIDIA's dual-core Tegra 250 processor to power their graphics. The move would let either tablet play HD video and 3D games without significant performance slowdowns.

Both are said on track for either late 2010 or early 2011 and would be some of the first major tablets for both of the mobile platforms. Most tablets so far have involved either smaller firms producing Android phones and any Windows tablets having to use desktop-level software, such as the HP slate.

Can't wait to run right out and buy one...

so I can take it outside the store and bash it to pieces with a baseball bat, and post the video on YouTube. Wait-- that's a total waste of bandwidth, and I might damage my baseball bat. Never mind.

Oh, it's coming out in early 2011? Great. It'll have been lapped a couple times already by the iPad. That's progress for you!
