Sprint seizes iPad chance with 4G Case
Sprint in an unusual step on Friday revealed an iPad sleeve. The 4G Case holds Apple's tablet but also has a space just large enough to hold an Overdrive 4G router. With both, the case gives iPad owners a way of carrying a 3-6Mbps WiMAX connection along with the iPad and sharing it with both the main device and four others nearby.
The case is actually free for those who buy the Overdrive, which also supports 3G and costs $100 after signing a two-year data plan and in some cases getting a rebate. Customers have to buy the pocket router at a Best Buy store in an area with WiMAX coverage.
The casing isn't the first instance of Sprint using Apple devices to market its 4G, as it recently showed a TV spot where the Overdrive sped up an iPhone.
