DXG unveils 3D-enabled compact camcorder

updated 07:55 pm EDT, Tue April 13, 2010

Consumer-level camera offers 3D viewfinder

DXG has unveiled one of the first consumer-level cameras capable of recording video in 3D. The DXG-321 allows users to record standard-definition video and still images in either 2D or 3D. A flip-out 3.2-inch LCD works as a viewscreen during recording, while the company also includes a seven-inch LCD display that shows 3D content without requiring special glasses.

The 3D camcorder utilizes side-by-side lenses to capture images from two different perspectives. Stills are captured in resolutions up to 5 megapixels, while videos are saved in AVI format on an SD card. The camera lacks an HDMI output, however.

The DXG-321 will be bundled with the special display for a suggested price of $600, although the company has yet to disclose launch details. The device may be offered in a package with 3D TV sets later in the year. [via CrunchGear]
