Stardom intros two new Pro Drive RAID storage systems

updated 06:45 pm EDT, Tue April 13, 2010

Available in RAID 1 or RAID 0 configurations

Stardom has introduced two new additions to its line of RAID storage systems, the Pro Drive PD2510 and PD2520. Each device is designed to hold two 2.5-inch hard drives configurable in RAID arrays. The PD2510 supports RAID 1 mirroring to protect against data loss if one drive fails. Users can fit the drive within the Mac Pro’s HDD bay, while data transfer speeds are claimed to reach 3Gbps.

The PD2520 can be used as an external or internal drive and offers both a FireWire 800 and USB 2.0 interface, with RAID 0 distribution for increased performance. Similar to the PD2510, the drive offers speeds of up to 3Gbps and is made for use with video editors, photographers, or graphic designers. Both drives offer aluminum outer shells for heat dissipation, as well as LED status indicators.

Each drive requires Mac OS X 10.2 or higher. The company has yet to announce pricing.
