Archos to put Android on iPod-sized tablets

Archos to put out six Android-powered tablets

At a recent presentation, Archos CEO Henri Crohas showed off a slide that reveals the company plans on releasing six Android-powered tablets. Screen sizes will range from three to 10 inches, while processors will include 800MHz and 1GHz ARM Cortex-based chips. At least one of the devices will have support for 3D acceleration and a multi-touch screen.

The devices are said to cost between $100 and $350, though the devices are still some ways off production-readiness, as the images are all the same, just shrunk or blown up to represent the various sizes of the tablets.

Earlier this year, a rumored 7-inch Archos tablet with Android was leaked, along with talk of a larger, 9-inch version. The 7's leaked specs included 8GB of storage space, a microSD memory card slot and a touchscreen with 800x480 resolution. There is a kickstand and a webcam. A price of $240 was expected.
