Antivirus software offers new detection methods
Intego has released an update to its network protection software, VirusBarrier Server. Version 3 adds a variety of new features, including 64-bit support and remote GUI administration with full access to settings and configurations. The system allows administrators to manage multiple servers using the remote interface. The update also integrates a two-way firewall, configurable using presets or individual rule-based settings.
The software now detects a range of new malware, including 'scareware' that attempts to trick users into believing their systems are infected. Protection also extends to the Mac OS X Server's e-mail system, automatically scanning incoming and outgoing messages for malicious attachments.
Several new features are focused on customization, with expanded options for scanning particular locations at specific time intervals. Administrators can also choose the level of CPU resources utilized during background scans, while virus definitions can now be updated from a local folder on systems that are not connected to the Internet.
VirusBarrier Server 3 is now available, with prices starting at $200.
