Skylight smartbook delayed until July, say Lenovo

The Lenovo Skylight smartbook has been delayed to July from April. Introduced at CES in January, the device delay is due to Lenovo wanting to "take the little extra time" to finalize the product. The Skylight will first start selling in China this May, with other markets getting it slightly ahead of the US, in June.

Despite the delay, the Skylight is likely to be the first smartbook on the North American market. It will be sold through AT&T, subsidized with a data plan, though the discounted price remains unknown. Contract-free, it should cost $500.

The 10-inch smartbook will be powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU and is both is ultra-thin and light at about 2lbs. It is said to be capable of playing back HD videos, even in a web browser. Storage will come from a 20GB flash drive, and users will have a Linux-based interface. The device will ship with 2GB of cloud storage as well and will have Wi-Fi in addition to 3G. [via Laptop]
