HP adds three new desktop PCs with new chips

HP has quietly released three new desktop PC families with new hardware specs, including the full-size Pavilion Elite HPE-190t PC as well as the Pavilion Slimline s5305z and s5350z small form factor desktops. The former can only be had with Intel's six-core Core i7-980X Extreme Edition CPU, rated at 3.33GHz. Standard spec includes 9GB of RAM and a 1.5TB hard drive, but users can opt for up to 24GB or RAM and a 3TB drive. Pricing starts at $1,900.

All leave the factory with a 1GB ATI Radeon HD 5570 graphics card, unless buyers opt for a 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 or 1GB ATI Radeon HD 4850. A Blu-ray player and dual-layer DVD writer are standard, with a Blu-ray burner optional. A TV tuner can also be ordered.

The s5305z in base form ships with a 2.7GHz AMD Sempron 140 CPU and 2GB of RAM, but can be ordered with a 3GHz AMD Athlon II 250 and 4GB of RAM, with more choices in-between. Users can also specify as much as 750GB of 7200RPM hard drive space and either 512MB or 1GB ATI Radeon or NVIDIA GeForce dedicated graphics cards. The s5305z range starts at $300.

The s5350z ships with a 2.8GHz AMD Athlon X4 CPU, though two Phenoms with the same clock speeds are on offer. RAM ranges from 4GB to 8GB, while storage comes from either 500GB, 640GB, 750GB, 1TB or 1.5TB 7200RPM hard drives. Again, standard systems get integrated NVIDIA graphics, with a 512MB ATI Radeon HD 4350, 512MB NVIDIA GeForce G210 or 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 dedicated cards optional. Pricing starts at $480.
