Adobe posts Lightroom, Camera Raw, DNG Converter candidates

updated 04:10 pm EDT, Mon April 5, 2010

Updates add only extra camera support

Release candidates have been made available for several upcoming Adobe patches, including Lightroom 2.7, Photoshop Camera Raw 5.7 and DNG Coverter 5.7. Lightroom is the company's professional photo workflow software. Camera Raw ensures the compatibility of different RAW types within Photoshop, while DNG Converter can translate those files into Adobe's Digital Negative format.

All of the release candidates concentrate on support for new cameras; added mainstream models include the Canon EOS 550D, Kodak Z981, Olympus E-PL1, Sony A450, and Panasonic G2 and G10. Supported professional hardware now includes two backs from Leaf, the Aptus-II 8 and Aptus-II 10R. Other changes include an expanded raw cache limit in Lightroom, topping out at 200GB, and a new demosaic algorithm in Camera Raw, meant to work with Lightroom 3 settings. All of the downloads are free.
