Apple may have multi-tier iPhone intro in 2010
With access to the just-launched iPad's file system, explorers have already found references to multiple new Apple handhelds in development. In addition to the already spotted iPhone 3,1, BGR has found references to iPhone 3,2 and 3,3. The discovery is unique as it suggests three discrete models where Apple normally has just one, hinting either at the Verizon iPhone or else different feature sets.
A single but significant reference has likewise shown up for iPod 4,1, which points to the fourth-generation iPod touch being a significant redesign instead of just a refresh. Current iPods appear as 3,1. Surprisingly, a reference has shown up for iProd 2,1 and may hint that Apple is already in very early testing for the iPad's next generation.
The new iPod's details are still very much uncertain but are very likely to borrow cues from the next iPhone. Rumors for that, while unconfirmed, have alluded to a 960x640 screen, a 5-megapixel camera with a possible front camera and iPhone 4.0. Technologies like 802.11n Wi-Fi and the Apple A4 chip may also come given their existence in the iPad.
