HTC HD2 once again sells out at T-Mobile

T-Mobile stock of HTC HD2 once again depleted

The HTC HD2 has once again sold out at T-Mobile despite being less than two weeks on the market. The carrier had already encountered an initial sellout of as many as 21,000 units in one day and initially seemed to have come to grips with supply, but a second wave has cleared out its online store. Retail stock isn't certain.

T-Mobile hadn't addressed the new shortage as of press time but had previously said it didn't know when the Windows Mobile 6.5 handset will again arrive in stores. It has said it would notify customers when the smartphone returns. The provider also told interested buyers to phone their local T-Mobile retail stores to see if there are any HD2s in stock or to get a raincheck on the next shipment.

The provider is no stranger to high-demand phones, having been the first carrier in the world to offer Android phones with the G1, but has rarely had sustained shortages. Owners so far have sought the HD2 for its extra-large 4.3-inch touchscreen as well as its rare combination of Windows Mobile with multi-touch input, though incentive bundles like both Transformers movies and free Gogo Wi-Fi may have sweetened the offering for undecided buyers.
