Hyundai to provide iPad as Equus owners manual

updated 07:00 pm EDT, Thu April 1, 2010

Onwers manual said to be interactive

Hyundai has announced that its flagship Equus luxury car will include a free iPad for every buyer, according to Leftlane News. The offering will not serve solely as a free promotional add-on, as the car manufacturer also plans to load the iPads with the entire owners manual rather than including a standard print version.

"Many will respond positively to the inclusion of an iPad, not because they needed or planned to buy one, but simply because it is topical and cool," said Coyote Insight analyst William Matthies.

Hyundai America CEO John Krafcik claims the company's iPad content will be interactive, although further details have yet to be disclosed. The full-size luxury car boasts several other tech features including a 608 watt, 17-speaker audio system and LED headlamps.

The Equus is scheduled to arrive in the US market sometime this fall, with prices ranging from $50,000 to $60,000 depending on configuration.

I'm not even joking. A dude gets it on with a horse.

    Equus

Um, Equus is the genus that includes horses. For those people who don't take their education solely from movies! :-)

    I know

Look, I know latin. I know Equus means horse and thats why its the title of a play about a man horse fantasy.

I also know Homo is the genus that includes modern humans, but it would still be a bad idea for you to name a car "the Homo"

What could they have been thinking? Now, they will have everyone who ever saw the play snickering at them.

    Get it Right

Why'd my comment get removed? The first link in the article doesn't say an IPad will be included, it says an iPad like device.

    Horrible Story - Completely Incorrect

Terrin is right. Here is the quote from the story:

For starters, Hyundai has replaced the traditional paper owner’s manual with a tablet similar in design to Apple’s iPad.

    Sheesh.

    free?

Very poor editing. Remove instances of the the word "free" from the article. Then it reads correctly.

    Hundai. Luxury?

I laughed when I saw a $40,000 Hyundai Genesis. I laughed even harder when I sat in one at a car show.

Adding leather and thoughtful consideration to the user interface, paint, sound levels to your $15,000 car does not increase its value by $35,000. A Lexus is still a Toyota is still a Scion, Acura still a Honda, Infiniti still a Nissan.

It's like when food-makers slap the "Artisian" on something which apparently increases its selling price twofold "Oh look, it's Artisian bread."

People - if you want a German car, go buy a German car.

Does the ipad come with the 2011 Equus?

Either way, this is an awesome car for a great price! I checked out the specs...the car is powered by a 4.6 Tau V8 engine, which if you didn't know is one of top 10 engines for the second year in a row. Fair to say that the equus would be a nice accessory to my ipad...lol

Take a look at this awesome video (done by MotorTrend) that compares the Equus to a Bentley...
