Rogers adds MiFi 2372 3G hotspot

updated 09:20 am EDT, Wed March 31, 2010

Rogers next in Canada with MiFi router

Rogers morning became the second major Canadian carrier to pick up the Novatel MiFi 2372. Like its Bell equivalent, the Rogers version can share up to a 7.2Mbps HSPA-based 3G connection and share it over 802.11g Wi-Fi to five other devices nearby. GPS positioning and a microSDHC slot give it geolocation, network-attached storage and self-contained media serving.

The device can attach to any Mac or Windows PC to serve as a direct USB modem; when on battery, it lasts for up to four hours. Rogers carries the MiFi today, and its pricing matches Bell's with a $50 price on a three-year contract or $250 when contract-free.
