updated 06:50 pm EDT, Tue March 30, 2010

Mac version now supports Windows FME features

Adobe has released an update to its Flash Media Live Encoder utility, a media encoder that streams audio and video to Flash Media Server. Version 3.1 for Mac now provides all of the same features as FMLE 3.1 for Windows Machines, including the ability to perform three simultaneous encodes.

A new auto-adjust feature helps manage the stream quality to prevent feed interruption under poor network conditions. The user interface has been redesigned, while users can take advantage of local and remote command-line control or an automatic restart function.

The latest version adds support for additional codecs such as H.264, AAC and Nellymoser. The range of compatible input devices has also been expanded with several new options.

Flash Media Encoder 3.1 for Mac is now available as a free download directly from Adobe.
