Elpical updates image optimization utility

Elpical on Monday released an update to its Claro series of image-enhancement utilities. Version 7 now supports direct integration with Adobe InDesign, while adding new analysis and correction tools for skin-tone adjustments. The software also provides indexed colorspace options and support for e-book readers such as Amazon's Kindle.

Claro Layout is geared for teams working with many publications, such as catalogs and annual reports, that will be laden with large numbers of images. The InDesign plug-in adjusts images through quality optimization, cropping, and size.

Claro Single helps publishers automate image optimizations, working in conjunction with other software such as Enfocus Switch or PuzzleFlow. The company's Premedia utility offers similar functionality to Layout, but completes image processing on the server side instead of local machines.

Claro Layout is now available for €800 (~$1,080 USD), while Premedia can be purchased for €7,000 (~$9,440 USD) and Single commands €3,500 (~$4,720 USD).
