Canon posts EOS movie plugin for Final Cut Pro

Allows direct import of DSLR video

Canon has published a new plugin for Mac owners of its DSLR cameras, simply called EOS MOVIE Plugin-E1. Users can import video directly into Final Cut Pro, Apple's professional editing suite. In particular the plugin takes advantage of Final Cut's Log and Transfer technology, which permits marking and tagging clips that are still on camera. The video is then transferred in the background so that editing can begin as soon as possible.

The software requires Final Cut Pro 6 or later, and is a 3MB download. Current supported cameras include the EOS-7D, the 5D Mk. II, and the 1D Mk. IV. More cameras should be added as Canon extends video technology to newer hardware.
