NVIDIA readying GeForce 430, 440, 450 for June

Leak spoils NVIDIA's 2010 mid-range plans

NVIDIA should launch mid-range counterparts to the imminent GeForce GTX 480 in roughly two months' time, according to a new roadmap. Cards based on the new GF104 architecture should ship as early as June and would, as is often the case, scale down the design but keep its feature set. Its fastest variant, the GeForce GTS 450, would have just 256 shader (effect) cores and a 256-bit memory bus versus the 448 cores and 384-bit bus of the GTX 480, but it would theoretically outperform the upper-mid-range Radeon HD 5830 and cost 200 euros ($268).

The data from 3DCenter also sees a GTS 440, which would have the same features as the 450 but represent about a 20 percent drop in clock speeds from the 725MHz main clock in return for a lower 160 euros ($214) price. A less certain but possible GTS 430 would drop to 192 shader cores and a 192-bit bus for a price as low as 130 euros ($174).

All three would be very important for NVIDIA, as the expected $350 minimum price and high power draw for its high-end cards are both likely to limit early sales only to enthusiasts as well as rule out smaller or all-in-one desktops. [via Fudzilla]
