SlingPlayer coming to Android phones this summer

A job posting from last October that pointed to a SlingPlayer app for Android has had its results confirmed, as Sling Media has demonstrated the app. The new version is due this summer and will, like other versions, allow users to stream video content from a Slingbox over either 3G data networks or a handset's Wi-Fi. Its interface will mimic that of the iPhone version, letting users select the live or recorded content they want to watch.

At the Gadget Live show, Sling Media was showing an unfinished version of the software running on an Samsung phone, Google's Nexus One and a Motorola Droid.

While pricing for the software has not been officially revealed, it's expected to match the $30 price tag of the iPhone, Windows Phone, Symbian and BlackBerry apps. [via AndroidCommunity]
