PayPal iPhone app uses Bump to send money

updated 10:30 am EDT, Tue March 16, 2010

Service allows payment between two phones

PayPal on Tuesday unveiled an update to its Send Money app for the iPhone and iPod touch. Version 2.0 allows users send money via Bump, transferring funds after "bumping" together two iPhones. A new Split Check feature is designed to provide an easy way for people to split the cost of a meal, including tips and tax, and then reimburse each other.

The update also provides tools for collecting money from multiple people. Users can gather funds for joint gifts, team dues, concert tickets, or other group buys.

PayPal Send Money is available as a free download from the App Store.

    credsticks!

Starting to sound like the credsticks from Shadowrun - no need to go to a bank to get your money, just touch two credsticks together and give a chummer his nuyen direct like!

    yawn

About as exciting as the iPhone app from one of the commercials, where you can exchange contact information by bumping fists (so, Paypal didn't come up with it).

    And the same problems.
Both people would need to have an iPod/iPhone. Then you'd both need the app. Then you both have to log into your apps, and the one sending money still needs to fill in details and verify information. Then once both are ready, they can bump. Then the sender will most likely have to confirm the sending of the money (to prevent accidental bumpage).

Oh yeah, sounds so much easier than just saying "What's you paypal email?"
