Novell demos iPhone app with Xbox 360 game

Software developer Novell on Monday demonstrated new technology that should bring some Xbox 360 games to iPhone and Android users. MonoTouch, which recognizes the XNA 4.0 kit needed for the Xbox 360 and Windows Phone 7, will have the ability to convert the Microsoft libraries to both the Apple and Google platforms. Microsoft itself is not making such efforts, instead only bringing its games to Windows Phone 7 handsets.

To prove the feat, Novell has demonstrated an Indiana Jones game, a version of which Microsoft is showing for both Windows Phone 7 and Xbox.

The Android version of this software is currently in early stages of development, but the iPhone software should be ready considerably sooner. XNA 4.0 and the rest of the development kit was made available today. [via PCWorld]

After the great job Novell did with OpenDoc, who'd doubt their ability to pull this off?

    Mono's not bad

They're the main backers of Mono and SLED, and neither of those are bad products.

The real question with all these x-platform tools is more 'what do your customers want'. With games, there isn't really any 'OS conventions' to adhere to. With apps, more so.
