Approx. 51,000 in two hours
The initial rush of iPad pre-orders may have seen sales as high as 20,000 or more per hour, according to early estimates. The CEO of Phanfare, Andrew Erlichson, notes that his company bought two iPads in the space of 30 minutes. Despite the short interval, the order numbers were about 10,000 apart, which extrapolates into the 20,000 figure. Though accuracy may be affected non-iPad orders, these are likely to be in the minority given the early hour at which they were placed.
Separately, a group of investors is said to have collaborated on a spreadsheet showing 15 order confirmations in two and half hours, with order numbers listed up to 74,000. Judging by the information, Valcent Financial Group analyst Victor Castroll argues that this translates into 51,000 orders in two hours. Among the investors, 25 percent are recorded to have bought 3G models, while 25 percent are also said to have chosen the 64GB capacity. An identical percentage bought two iPads. A lone investor is said to have been planning to get nine.

iPad Accessories
Anyone know if the accessories will be compatible with the iPhone/iPod Touch? I ordered an iPad for my wife with the dock/keyboard. Seems to me it should work just that same if I drop my iPhone in it.
