iPhone 3.2 SDK beta 4 seeds to developers

updated 03:05 pm EST, Tue March 9, 2010

Tools near iPad launch deadline

Apple has released a fourth beta of the iPhone 3.2 SDK, available through the company's developer portal. Little information has yet leaked out due to Apple confidentiality restrictions, but it is known to be build 10M2144, and a 2.5GB download. Mac OS X 10.6.2 is required to run the software.

The kit is not meant for submitting titles to the App Store, but rather for pre-release work on iPad-compatible apps. Apple has relatively little time left to complete the software, as the first Wi-Fi iPads will launch on April 3rd, to be followed by 3G versions later in the month. All iPads should ship with iPhone 3.2 firmware by default.

    Very exciting!

I'm a new developer, just learning the languages and Xcode.

I've tentatively decided to specialize in iPad apps, reasonably confident that the iPad is going to sell like hotcakes and establish whole new markets for itself.

It's fantastic to see Apple so active in its software development support, as well as the fact that it represents a fairly simple extension of OS X.
