Tiptoe 1.0 adds privacy layer to multiple apps

updated 05:05 pm EST, Fri March 5, 2010

15 titles covered by default

Zenopolis has launched Tiptoe, a new Mac privacy tool. The software replicates the private browsing concept found in browsers like Chrome and Safari, spreading it to a collection of 15 Mac apps. While active, apps do not record any new cache or history information; older data is kept intact.

As needed, Tiptoe can also be used to remove pre-existing content. Supported browsers include Camino, Firefox, Opera, OmniWeb and Safari. Beyond this the program is compatible with a variety of apps, such as iChat, Cyberduck, VLC and the Apple iWork suite. More titles may be supported with future updates. Tiptoe costs $20, and runs on Mac OS X 10.5 or later.
