Corsair intros fastest-in-class Force Series SSDs

updated 10:35 am EST, Thu March 4, 2010

Corsair 2.5-inch Force Series SSDs use SATA II

Corsair on Thursday introduced a new range of solid state drives with the Force Series. Both the 100GB and 200GB models have a SATA II interface and offer purportedly class-topping 280MBps peak read speeds and 260MBps write speeds. Corsair credits the speed to the use of a newer SandForce SF-1200 SSD processor to help govern traffic.

The Force Series also support TRIM in Windows 7 to help maintain optimal performance over the drive's lifetime. Their regular cases fit 2.5-inch form factors for use in netbooks or notebooks, but Corsair includes brackets for mounting in 3.5-inch desktop drive bays.

The Force Series of SSDs will begin shipping in mid-March, though pricing hasn't yet been revealed.
