Create 3D effects, render software
Franklin Group has introduced a new 3D engine for games and simulations, Franklin 3D. The software is designed to integrate with Runrev 4, enabling users to build cross-platform games and 3D applications. Features include over 400 different methods such as model loading and display control, as well as software rendering using one of five different engines including Direct3D 9.0 and OpenGL 3.0. Developers can choose from morph target-based animation, or a second option utilizing skeleton-based animation.
A variety of different elements can be simulated with Franklin 3D, ranging from different forms of terrain to rippling water effects. With the integrated effects system, users can also control various environmental effects such as smoke or flames. The utility supports split displays with four parts for multiplayer gaming, while allowing players to use key inputs, a mouse, or an attached joystick to interact with games.
Franklin 3D is currently available directly from the company, with pricing starting at $200 for use with Runrev or $300 for when used with Revolution Pro.
