SteelSeries adds flagship headset, keyboard

PC gaming peripherals maker SteelSeries on Tuesday introduced the new 6Gv2 mechanical gaming keyboard and 7H gaming headset at the CeBIT show in Germany. The 6Gv2 has 18-karat gold-plated mechanical switches for quicker response times than conventional keyboards as well as added durability. A buffer system is also built-in for supporting as many simultaneous key presses as there are keys.

There is also an anti-ghosting feature will let gamers involved in first person shooter titles to move, crouch, aim, fire and check the scoreboard at the same time. For more traditional use, media controls are built into the keyboard. The 6Gv2 shares the same basic design as the company's flagship 7G keyboard, but gives up its audio ports, pair of USB ports and a removable plastic handrest in order to drop the price of entry.

At the same time, SteelSeries brought out its latest gaming handset, the 7H, which ships with two earcups, including hear-through cloth and noise-dampening leather. The high-end handset has near 2-inch drivers and chrome accents. It can be dismantled into four pieces that include each of the earcups, the headband and the cord for easier portability while traveling. The braided cord has a built-in volume and microphone control, and comes with a six-foot extension cord.

Both the 6Gv2 and 7H can ordered ahead of their release on Amazon for $100 and $120, respectively. A USB version of the 7H with virtual 7.1 surround sound can be had for $150 as well.
