First Samsung 3D HDTV now for sale at Amazon
The first of Samsung's 3D-enabled HDTVs is now up for sale on Amazon. The 55-inch UN55C7000 is not the company's flagship 3D HDTV, but still sports goodies that include a 240Hz LED screen. The C7000, along with Samsung's other 3D-enabled TV sets, was announced at this year's CES show.
The C7000 otherwise has four HDMI 1.3 inputs that are HDMI-CEC compatible, one each of component and VGA, two ConnectShare Movie USB ports and a BDWise feature that automatically adjusts components to deliver the best picture and sound quality. There are also two 15W speakers and a swiveling stand. While the set is 3D compatible, there is no 3D source material or content yet created. The first 3D Blu-ray movie is expected to launch later this year, and broadcasters should also bring out 3D content, though exactly when is not known.
The availability of the C7000, which was initially shown last fall, comes ahead of the expected March release for the 3D TVs in the UK, and other models are expected to follow soon. The 55-inch C7000 lists for $3,300 on Amazon, and there were two left in stock at the time of our visit.
