MIDI controller support expands
algoriddim has released an update of djay, its DJ performance software. Version 3.1 makes several important upgrades, such as better beat and tempo detection able to more accurately identify music from genres like funk, hip-hop and jazz. In a similar regard, auto-sync should more closely align tempo and rhythm between songs.
DJs now also have access to quantized cue points, automatically aligned to beats and onsets, and saved while mixing. Keyboard shortcuts have meanwhile been revised to be based on position rather than character, which should keep mapping consistent regardless of international layouts. algoriddim has lastly increased its native MIDI controller support to include the DJ Console Rmx, DJ Control Steel, DJ Console Mk2 and DJ Control MP3 e2 by Hercules, as well as the Discover DJ by Ion, and the VCI-300.
The program costs $50, and runs on a minimum of Mac OS X 10.4 and a 1.25GHz processor.
