Adobe preparing to announce new Creative Suite app

updated 04:35 pm EST, Tue February 23, 2010

Product so far kept under wraps

Adobe will be showcasing a new, as yet unheard-of Creative Suite program in April, conference listings show. An "Adobe Technology Preview" is scheduled as part of the Emerge print production conference, to be held in San Antonio, Texas on April 21st and the 22nd. The product is described only as a "brand new application" that will "surprise even the most 'in the know' Adobe fans."

While Creative Suite 5 is known to be in development for a spring launch, all of the apps announced so far have been extensions of current ones, such as Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver and InDesign. Even Packager for iPhone is associated with Flash CS5. Given the theme of Emerge, the new product may be built around design and/or output for press.

    let's hope ...

    Lower the price...

Ideally they will de-emphasize Flash (doubtful) and lower the ridiculously high upgrade price (even more doubtful). I skipped CS4 because of the way-too-high upgrade cost.

    Woohoo!

The Illustrator coders made it all the way through CS4 without releasing a bug fix. Beat that Photoshop and InDesign dev team! I smell a bonus next pay cheque.

    New vector graphics program

They are finally releasing the new illustration program- taking the best of Freehand and Illustrator and merging them.
The new product will be called "Frustrator" and will generate files guaranteed to not be backwards compatible with older versions, forcing you to upgrade.

To make matters worse, they are also going to require you to buy a new mac, triple your RAM and make it even more confusing as to which "package" to buy for an upgrade.
