Samsung to bring 3D TVs to the UK in March

Samsung will bring its 3D-enabled TVs to the UK this March, company president Hu announced on Monday. The unveiling included a promise that every high-end Samsung TV will have 3D capability. March will see the release of 20 different 3D-capable products, with Blu-ray players and the required 3D glasses expected to be included among them.

At the same time, 3D content will make its debut at or near the same time, with 3D Blu-ray movies thanks to a partnership with DreamWorks and the soccer World Cup being broadcast in 3D as well. Monsters vs Aliens will be the first Blu-ray 3D title.

The company's 3D TVs were shown at CES, with the flagship being the LED9000 with its LED screen and less than a third of an inch thickness. It will be available in at least 40- and 63-inch sizes and be capable of converting 2D content to 3D thanks to RealD technology.

While these dates are for the UK only, it is expected the 3D TVs will also come to North America soon thereafter through equivalent US models that include the LED9000, LED8000, LED7000, LCD750 and PDP7000. Pricing has not yet been finalized. [via ShinyShiny]
