Lenovo ThinkPad X100e shows with Intel Atom

The Lenovo ThinkPad X100e has shown up with a spec sheet on Lenovo's website, revealing it will be offered as a 10.1-inch device and with a dual-core 1.66GHz Intel Atom CPU as well as the previously known 11.6-inch version powered by a 1.6GHz AMD Athlon Neo chip. The smaller netbook will have a screen resolution of 1280x720 pixels and likely only ship with a 160GB, 5,400RPM hard drive.

The spec sheet reveals the systems will be available with 1GB, 2GB, 3GB or 4GB of RAM, as well as optional 250GB and 320GB hard drives in addition to the standard 160GB HDD. The spec sheet does say some drives won't be available in certain models without expanding on the details.

Otherwise, there will be either a 3- or 6-cell battery, Wi-Fi, and optional wireless WAN cards.

While it is known that the 11.6-inch X100e with the 1.6GHz Athlon costs $449, pricing for the smaller, Intel-powered version is unknown. Also unknown are expected ship dates, whether for North America or Europe. [via NetbookNews]

Keyboards: Lenovo used to have the best keyboards but I have been reading that the quality has been slipping. The keyboards do not have the bracing that they used to and the keys are flexing much more than they ever did. This is sad because Thinkpads had the best keyboards on the planet. I am very curious to know what the blogger things when he gets his new computer. Note that Apple does not have a great keyboard but the lighting is very nice in a dark airplane at night.
