New tools, environmental effects
onOne has released PhotoTools 2.5, an updated version of its image enhancement plug-in for Photoshop. The upgrade now offers over 300 effects, including new MaskingBug and MaskingBrush functions which can be used to selectively place and blend multiple effects. Also added are a collection of environmental effects designed to simulate rain, snow and rainbows.
Other new features include a shadowcasting tool, and a "let there be light" option for introducing light to a picture. When adding light, a fade slider can be used to adjust the amount. Both the Standard and Professional versions are capable of working with Photoshop CS2 through CS4. Professional can also be integrated with Lightroom 2 and Aperture 2.1.
PhotoTools 2.5 requires Mac OS X 10.5, and is currently on sale until February 25th. Upgrades have been reduced from $100 to $70, and a new copy is now priced at $120 for Standard or $160 for Professional.
