BlackBerry phones get free Kindle app from Amazon

Amazon on Thursday introduced a Kindle for BlackBerry app that will let BlackBerry users read more than 400,000 books that are also available for the Kindle e-book reader. Those who own more than one compatible device, which also includes the iPhone and iPod touch, along with PCs, can sync their e-book using to save their bookmarks across all compatible devices. The initial version only supports those BlackBerry devices that run on the AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile or Verizon networks.

Using the app, content can be purchased with most books priced at $10 or less directly from their phones. The Kindle store can also be browsed and samples downloaded, and the beginning of books can be read before they are purchased. Any previous purchases from the same account can be downloaded to the BlackBerry from Amazon's servers. Text size of the books can be adjusted on the BlackBerry, while the books can be read in full color when the text allows.
