Design not exclusive to iPhone OS
The forthcoming Wired iPad app is not founded in code native to the iPhone OS, the magazine now elaborates. It is instead based on an e-reader using Adobe's AIR framework, which allows the creation of standalone apps using web technologies. From this template, says Wired, it can convert the app for "major tablet and mobile platforms." Content is taken directly from the InDesign files used for the paper publication.
Because the iPad is incapable of running any AIR code, Wired notes that it is instead planning to use Adobe's Packager for iPhone to convert assets into a format Apple will allow at the App Store. The tool should become public when Adobe releases Flash CS5 in the spring; the Wired iPad app should be ready this summer. The core AIR software should run on Mac, Windows and Linux systems.

embedded video
anyone know if the iPad will have in-place embedded video? or will it kick you out to the media player like on the iPhone? just curious and I don't remember seeing an example of this in the various videos so far.
