Motorola's multi-touch Android reaches Canada

After an early tease, Telus this morning began carrying the Motorola Milestone and became the first North American carrier outside of Verizon to offer a variant of the Droid. Its version uses GSM and HSPA-based 3G for networking and already has multi-touch support out of the box, letting it pass on the update that added the feature to the American phone.

The handset continues to center on its 3.7-inch 854x480 touchscreen, 3G, GPS and Wi-Fi; a 16GB microSDHC card is bundled in the box to give it a large amount of storage right away. Most software is stock, although Telus Navigator gives it subscription turn-by-turn GPS for those who want an alternative to the free Google Maps Navigation app.

Pricing is higher than at Verizon as the phone costs $200 Canadian on a longer three-year plan. Those who want it contract-free can buy the phone for $600.
