Inbrics to unveil Android MID next week

updated 09:15 pm EST, Mon February 8, 2010

Device offers full 3G phone functionality

The Korean company Inbrics is set to launch its Android-based M1 MID next week at Mobile World Congress. Despite its MID designation, the device also works as a standard 3G phone. The form-factor is also close to many smartphones, with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a 3.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen. Standard specs include an 800MHz ARM Cortex A8 CPU, 3 megapixel camera, front-facing VGA camera, GPS, Wi-Fi, and 3G or WiMAX components.

The M1 is based on Android 1.5 in its pre-release form, although it is said to get a v2.x update before shipping. Internal memory is limited to 16GB, although a microSD slot is available for further expansion.

Inbrics has yet to release pricing information, however the M1 is expected to ship in Europe sometime later this year or in the beginning of 2011. Plans for a North American launch remain unclear. [via pocketables]
