nuvifone M10 coming with Windows Mobile 6.5.3

Garmin-ASUS on Friday released the Windows 6.5.3-powered M10 smartphone in Taiwan. The company's third GPS phone, it's powered by a Qualcomm 600MHz chip and is the first to use Windows Mobile 6.5.3, although it uses a resistive touchscreen rather than the capacitive that 6.5.3 enables. Internet Explorer is also said to be smoother in transitions in touch gestures and is quicker overall.

The M10 otherwise sports a 3.5-inch, 800x480 pixel display. A 5-megapixel camera will also be onboard, along with GPS.

The M10 will be available at electronics shops and at provider Chunghwa Telecom. ASUS handheld division president Benson Lin indicated the handset will ship to other certain Asian markets before month's end, and China by April. Final pricing for the M10 with Windows hasn't been revealed but has been pegged earlier at the equivalent of $435, and when or if the handset will ship to North America is likewise undefined.

Garmin-ASUS also plans to reveal its first Android-powered handset at the Mobile World Congress later this month and Lin confirmed in today's report that this device will be released in the spring and built by Foxconn. [via DigiTimes]
