Sanyo brings Xactis with 14MP stills, HD to US

Sanyo Xacti GH2, CG102 and CG20 official

Sanyo today wasted no time in bringing over its new Xactis to the US under new names. The GH2, CG102 and CG20 all shoot widescreen 1080i AVCHD (H.264) video and have a new imaging processor that helps Sanyo shrink the size of the cameras. Of the series, the GH2 and CG102 also capture stills at 14.4 megapixels and have a unique "double-range zoom" that uses both wide-angle and telephoto elements to jump from 5X zoom to 12X.

All three use relatively sensitive CMOS sensors and support the new SDXC format for cards between 64GB and 2TB in size. The GH2 and CG102 differ primarily in form factor, as the GH2 has a traditional camcorder-like body while the CG102 uses the Xacti's signature vertical grip. The CG20's only real sacrifice is dropping to a 10.7 megapixel resolution.

Sanyo expects deliveries of the range in March and will price both the GH2 and CG102 at $229. Opting for the CG20 costs $199.
