F80EXR and Z700EXR lead Fujifilm 2010 line

Fujifilm as part of a sweeping range of camera updates for PMA added a pair of new cameras using its EXR sensor technology. The Z700EXR not only takes the dynamic range and low noise features outside of the F series but is Fujifilm's first touchscreen camera. A 3.5-inch display on the back is the central interface and brings tap-to-focus and search with a relatively unique interface that auto-rotates depending on the orientation of the camera.

The 12-megapixel compact, like the earlier F200EXR, drops to 6 megapixels when in one of the EXR modes and carries a 5X optical zoom lens. New, however, is an anticipated 720p video shooting mode (with mini HDMI output) and a much thinner (0.66in) body. Light sensitivity is limited to ISO 1,600 at full resolution but up to 3,200 in an EXR mode.

In turn, the F80EXR is an upgrade to the earlier F70EXR and gets both the higher 12-megapixel resolution as well as 720p movies and mini HDMI. It still centers on its 10X lens, but sensitivity scales up to ISO 12,800 when invoking EXR.

The Z700EXR and F80EXR ship in March and April respectively at prices of $280 and $300.
