Tool provides sketch modeling
AutoDesSys has released v2.0 of Bonzai 3D, a modeling utility. The software is used to generate relatively simple models, which can be presented as-is or converted into more detailed schematics, including ones for fabrication or 3D printing. The second edition adds features like visible dimension notes, which can be attached to planes on objects.
Users also have access to a new walkthrough tool, and more advanced NURBS modeling functions. Clipping planes have been made available for real-time sections, and a selection of pre-defined Components can now be inserted, including windows and doors. An option for the program is the RenderZone plug-in, which provides a more realistic rendering of models with proper lighting.
Bonzai 3D 2.0 typically costs $499 new, but is a free download for owners of v1.x. RenderZone costs another $399, unless bought with the Student Edition of Bonzai 3D, at which point it is free. Regular Bonzai users are otherwise limited to a trial plug-in.
