HTC Espresso to become myTouch slide after all

More T-Mobile news has surfaced today as a leak has shown that the myTouch slide is real. First called the HTC Espresso, it appears to be visibly different than the original myTouch and has a click-down optical trackpad in addition to the slide-out QWERTY keyboard. An LED flash would also accompany the camera and signals that the phone will use at least Android 2.0 to support the camera lighting.

The slip to Droid Developer confirms a handful of other details, such as the 480x320 touchscreen, ARM11-based (likely 528MHz) processor and microSDHC storage. It's also believed that the card slot will still be behind the back cover but won't require pulling the battery as on the existing design.

A launch period for the myTouch slide isn't known and could come as late as May. Regardless of when it ships, the Android smartphone is rumored to be replacing the Sidekick as T-Mobile's primary messaging phone.
