Background clip analysis improves workflow
CoreMelt has launched an update to its stabilization plug-in for Final Cut Pro, Lock and Load X. The software fixes shaky video camera footage, analyzing and then smoothing video as much as possible. It can also smooth zoom and rotational motion, and be set to ignore foreground motion.
The new version is said to be three times faster than its predecessor, and 12 times faster than Smoothcam. Clips are now analyzed in the background to allow work elsewhere. The update also keeps clips tracked after a transition, and can compensate for differing levels of movement with adaptive zoom.
Lock and Load X requires Mac OS X 10.5.4, and a 1GHz G5 processor, with a dedicated video card with at least 128MB of memory -- a 256MB card is required for HD work. The plug-in is on sale for the next two weeks for $130, after which it will revert to a standard $150 price.
