Big in Japan, Firemint announce early iPad apps

ShopSavvy and Flight Control coming to iPad

Two developers, Big in Japan and Firemint, have each announced that they will be redesigning current iPhone/iPod touch applications for use on the Apple iPad. Big in Japan is focusing on a new version of ShopSavvy, a barcode scanning app that helps to find the best prices on products. The upgraded program will carry all of the original features, with the addition of features like video product reviews and side-by-side comparisons of scanned products.

Firemint's current iPad project is Flight Control. The game -- which has players try to land a fleet of aircraft -- was originally released in early March of last year, and recently surpassed 2-million in sales through the App Store. While the title is presently said to work on the iPad without any changes, the company is still working towards an enhanced version.

Neither company has revealed when the updated programs will be released, or if they will retain the same price.

    Umm....But:

"Big in Japan is focusing on a new version of ShopSavvy, a barcode scanning app that helps to find the best prices on products. "

The iPad has no camera. How will ShopSavvy scan the barcode?

    I wonder...

Is this a sign that Big in Japan are clueless, and just wanted the easy attention of an iPad related press release... or do they know something we don't about the iPad?

Big in Japan requires too many hands.

"The native version of ShopSavvy for the iPad will allow users to interact with ShopSavvy through the tablet directly (i.e. manual entry of title, upc or part number) or in concert with the iPhone or Android version of ShopSavvy."

Scan with iPhone, transfer the results to the iPad, and you are golden.... Where do I put the iPad while scanning with the iPhone?
