Nuvifone M10 already up for pre-order in Taiwan

updated 08:50 am EST, Fri January 22, 2010

Garmin ASUS M10 costs about $450 in Taiwan

A Thursday report of Garmin ASUS launching its nuvifone M10 Android smartphone has been all but confirmed, as the device is now up for pre-order in Taiwan. The Android-powered device is otherwise expected to be displayed at the Mobile World Congress show in Barcelona in mid-February, while Taiwanese customers are expected to receive their orders starting on February 6th.

The M10 will use Windows Mobile 6.5.3 (possibly 6.6), run on a fairly quick 600MHz Qualcomm CPU, and carry a 3.5-inch touchscreen with an 800x480 resolution. There is also a 5-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth. The low integrated 512MB of memory is offset by a microSDHC memory card slot. Dual-band HSDPA and tri-band WCDMA networks will be supported but will likely rule out North American 3G, at least in the initial version.

The phone will cost the equivalent of about $450, and will ship with a choice of an extra 1,500mAh battery or a car mount for more efficient GPS navigation. [via SlashGear]
