Endless Ideas' BeBook Neo brings Wi-Fi, tablet features

updated 02:35 pm EST, Fri January 22, 2010

BeBook Neo can reach world e-book stores

Relative newcomer Endless Ideas today brought out one of its first connected e-book players. The 6-inch BeBook Neo opts for a device-independent approach to downloadable books. It depends only on Wi-Fi to get online and points users to multiple third-party stores rather than to an internal shop. Endless further vows that users will have limited access to Google and Wikipedia, but it's not mentioned if this involves a full web browser.

The reader has a touchscreen element and draws on a Wacom-made tablet surface that allows for margin notes or highlights. Speed is a bonus as the Neo's Freescale processor is theoretically up to 2.5 times faster than the basic chips found in some readers.

Endless' reader provides EPUB, PDF, TXT and a handful of other text and image formats. Shipments start in the second half of February, when the new BeBook should cost the equivalent of $452 in Europe. [via Pocket-lint]
